I agree completely. Unfortunately, I think a lot of people sprinkle their posts with less relevant tags to get more views, without realising that it ultimately has the opposite effect.

That is certainly one reason.
Like, it's VERY popular for porn games to incorrectly have the "lesbian" tag.
Heck, I've seen two this year on F95 that had it because "They were THINKING of adding it later.". And a lot that just... doesn't know what lesbian even means.

Most people just don't seem to know what tags mean.
But those that do it for views, then get pissed at the negative ratings they get, are certainly a large chunk.

Generally my gripe is you calling futas men, when you yourself say that they're futas, not men, which just seems counterintuitive to the point you're trying to make.

Wanted to elaborate by the way, that the word stems from japanese media depicting hermaphrodism. While technically you aren't wrong calling futas guys, you also are not right. But they're also not neither.

The whole 'tagging issue' stems from the fact that it's mostly a universally accepted truth that futas are referred to with female pronouns because of their figure being female presenting. That's how transgender folk work too, mostly, if they transitioned to male from female than they are referred to as female.

But that's another can of worms. Because there's difficulty distinguishing what is a futa and a trans. Futa generally are either like 'full package' as in, penis and testicles and a vagina between them and the anus, or just dick and balls and asshole.

The former would usually be considered futanari, but the latter is also considered futanari, but so far as I've seen noone calls them men, and that's where my gripe stems from in the first place.

As such I may as well ask why you call them men when almost noone else does?

I respect your opinions and frustrations though and can understand why misleading tags can be annoying, but to me personally it's not an issue as I do not search by tags, I search by title, and usually that works out pretty well anyway.

I am aware. Practically no-one use them as herm however. It has become a catch all term for "boobs+penis".

And, it's waaay more than futa that are tagged incorrectly.
They are just one of the biggest mistakes made continually.
And: Yes. Most people lie about futa that way. Since, that makes it "not gay". As they *appear* feminine.
Also: Porn wise. That's not true. If it has tits = Female. If it doesn't have tits = male.
That's how porn works. (With some exceptions. Like flat chested kobolds.)
If you have a trans man that still has breasts. People will just go "her".
That's not how it SHOULD be. But, that's how it IS. Heck, most sites would refuse to tag post op trans man+cis woman as "straight".

Anyhow: Yes. Futa are NOT trans. They are at best a porn caricature.
And yes, tagging wise: They have been smooshed by porn sites.

For a short rundown: The vast majority of ALL futa, nearly 97 (not an exaggeration) use the "dude with tits" archetype. Ie: They are "the dude" in a cheesy porno. The "Who ordered EXTRA MEAT" guy. And: They also have tits.
Their SOLE PURPOSE, is to "be the male" (with better curves). Nothing else.
They are there for the male viewer to either identify as, or project onto.
You can replace them with a floating dick. You can replace them with a generic fat guy. Nothing changes story wise. But what you CAN'T do, is replace them with a girl. The *entire* porn they are in then collapses. As: It was exclusively about the dick.
-
They are there to be a dick. Pun intended.
Vast majority of them fail to "identify" as female as well.
If you ask the creator: They'll say its a girl. But, if you do the slighest poking: That facade crumbles.
Ex: They have names like "Big Daddy". They won't do anything "gay". (some exceptions)
I actually have a halloween comic addressing one such occasion:

That's roughly how most of them work.
People claim "they are girls", but if put in the same situation as a male character: People treat them like a male character. Such as not wanting them with "other men". There is ofc exceptions, but speaking in broad terms. In any of role "taking action", they *cannot* be replaced by a female. But they *can* be replaced by a male.

Then it also doesn't help that practically NONE of them are consistent. Swapping species, personality, proportions, orientation, sexuality and just about everything, in case of characters that can shapeshift or has a female>futa variant.
So, yes. I call them men. As, generally: *Nothing* about them is woman. (Bar from appearance)
Heck, this applies extra on games and whatnot where women are second class citizens. *Somehow* the futa are "an exception" to that. And treated as men by that world... but they're still TOTALLY girls. /S

I HAVE actually seen some futa that "are women". But they are extremely rare.
To make a simple video game analogy: It's like someone claiming to be a healer, when they play a class that doesn't have access to any healing.
Also, yes: I know there's no "right way" to be male, female, or anything else in between.
But as said: This is porn. Stuff is VERY boiled down. It has established gender roles.
So put bluntly: I go based on actions, not words. And if someone's futa fails to meet their own definition of what a woman is "supposed" to do, but checks all the boxes of what a man does...

Searching by title doesn't work on several sites though.
It also doesn't help that I can search for "lesbian" and get straight content. (Like: Both are cis) Since: "Well, she IS canonically a lesbian!" people tag shit.
